Complicated machining can be done by using polar interpolation coordinate and cylindrical interpolation. Complex machining can be done by using sub spindle. First information about our school: Our school is situated in Kosice in Slovak republic. It is vocational school with 4 year study finished by final exams, located on the Komenskeho street in north part of Kosice. Students can study two foreign languages — English and German. School has more then 10 ICT labs, 7 electrotechnical labs, 7 workshops, gym and other classrooms. Study branches: technical lyceum (it consists of informatics and economy) electrotechnics (included industrial informatics, electroenergetics, computer systems, telecommunications) One part of our school is Vocational Training Center (VTC) too. Vocational Training Center is a meeting place for students of our school, satellite schools and primary schools with experts of chosen areas from group of our teachers and employers. It is a place with high quality personnel and material equipment from leading companies in electrical engineering, automation and information technologies such as FESTO or Cisco companies. Vocational Training Center is for our students as a part of core subjects taught in school curriculum and students of satellite schools as opportunity to improve knowledge and skills in best-equipped labs. Homemade Wooden CNC Machine 2′x4′

This is a CNC machine that I made back in May through July of 2010. It is constructed entirely of materials from Home Depot minus the ball bearings and stepper motors/couplings. It is mostly MDF with pinewood used also. The approximate size is 2′ wide, 4′ long, 2′ high. You may have noticed that I didn’t actually cut anything in this video. I never really intended to post this video but I did anyways. The problem with my CNC machine is that it is not very rigid and there were accuracy problems. I built this hastily and Home Depot parts are not too precise. I drilled over a 1000 holes in a PCB as a test and at the worst it was about .020″ off. Not horrible but for PCB work it’s pretty bad. After getting frustrated and spending probably 0, I decided to save myself further hassle and I just bought a CNC machine. If I were to revisit this CNC machine, I would probably replace the lead screws and the nuts and bolts securing the ball bearings, which is a huge job in itself. I probably should have made it from metal in the first place.
